Who We Are

The Three Mile Fire Department is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to safeguarding life and property in Stevensville, MT & Florence, MT. Established in 1981, we have grown alongside our community, evolving our tactics and equipment to meet modern challenges. Our volunteers are highly trained in many emergency situations, including structure fires, wildland incidents, and emergency medical response. We don't just fight fires; we serve our community with dedication and compassion.

In March 2026, Three Mile Fire was recognized as a Gold level pediatric EMS service from the Emergency Medical Services for Children program through Montana Dept. of Public Health and Human Services. Making us the third Fire Department in the State of Montana to achieve such recognition.

Open burning in Ravalli County must be open, and Residents must secure a burn permit, and have permit activated during burning. Permits are free and can be obtained below.

All materials must be natural (brush, grass, tree limbs, etc.).

Must comply with county and state ordinances.

Burn Assist Requests

Residents that would like to have Three Mile Fire Department assist them in burning brush, debris, fields, or other natural materials, can put in a request using the contact form below.

Please include your name, address, phone number, and brief description of the acreage and materials to be burned.

Donation Policy We respectfully request a minimum donation of $300 dollars for any burn services the Three Mile Fire Department provides.
